How do you know when a couple is absolutely perfect for one another? Well, it could be the “I love you”, the sweet affection towards each other, or the taco fetish you each share…..
But how do you really know when two people are meant to spend the rest of their lives together?
Each of these questions were answered this past Saturday evening. I had the privilege to coordinate a wedding very near and dear to my heart. My boss’s son – Cody – was marrying his dream girl. In his words “his Victoria Secret model”, his everything, the other half if you will. I had my doubts but after being in the presence of young love all I could think was wow… one day I will look back at this moment and know that Cody and his new wife Katie have been married for over 50 years.
The highlight of my epiphany was right before the ceremony. Katie was gorgeous from head to toe of course. Yet the wave of emotions flooded everyone’s tear ducks. As Katie walked down the aisle I looked at Cody and he was just a waterfall of gratefulness. I mean there were so many tears I didn’t think he’d be able to pull it together at one point. After she arrived at the alter the sighs of relief that they were about to join hands together made Cody relax.
These two who have shared ups and downs from undergrad to post grad to moving back home are going to embark upon a journey that will give them the meaning they crave in life.
I know that Cody and Katie were meant for each other. Especially, when Cody took his shirt off at the end of the reception and Katie thought it was hilarious. To laugh at each other in these moments is the perfect recipe for a happy marriage.
Congratulations Cody and Katie… you made the people who don’t believe in marriage want to propose to their girlfriends that night! Enjoy the honeymoon!
